how to get started
I would like to talk with you briefly over the phone, free of charge, to hear about your concerns and to give you a chance to make a preliminary decision about whether working with me feels like a good fit. If it does, we will set up an appointment for an initial face-to-face session.
the first therapy session
I like to use the first face-to-face session as an opportunity to learn as much as I can about your background, why you are seeking therapy, and what you hope to get out of the experience. I will gather lots of history about you, and we will together develop some initial goals for therapy.
At that point, we will decide how often we will meet (usually once every week or couple of weeks), and schedule the next appointment. We will then have a plan in place to get started on the real work of therapy, beginning at your next session.
